Your couch, sofas, and chairs get stained almost on a daily basis. It’s easy to see why, given that they are often in contact with food, drinks, and pets. On top of that, your kids might get a bit creative in their playtime and cause even more mess with crayons and other toys.

So, stains are definitely hard to avoid. But, you can get rid of them quite handily. With first-class house cleaning in Scottsdale guiding you all the way, cleaning your upholstery will be a cakewalk. All you need to know is right here!

How do you clean dirty upholstery?

How do you clean dirty upholsteryBefore doing any cleaning, check the label to see what kind of cleaner you can use on your upholstery. In other words, figure out if the cleaner should be water-based, solvent-based, or if it requires professional cleaning. Regardless of whether you’re cleaning your couch or any other piece of furniture, remember to consult the label beforehand to avoid damage.

Vacuum

Use the upholstery attachment and vacuum the initial layer of dust and dirt. Work in the same direction and take the crevice attachment for seams, folds, and space around buttons and tufting.

Water-based cleaning

Pour several drops of liquid dish detergent in a bucket of lukewarm water. Take a soft-bristled brush and go over the entire surface. Try not to soak any areas, as it can lead to discoloration. Wipe the upholstery with a clean, damp cloth and let it air dry.

Solvent-based cleaning

Spray your solvent-based cleaner on a clean towel and start brushing over dirty areas. In case of stubborn dirt, apply the cleaner with a soft-bristled brush, and let it air dry.

How do you clean fabric chairs?

To clean your fabric chairs, you will need:

  • Dish soap
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Steam cleaner

Apply the dish soap

Add a few drops of dish soap into a large bowl with hot water. Dip a microfiber cloth into the solution, and give the chair a quick scrub.

Add hydrogen peroxide

Before spraying hydrogen peroxide, make sure to spot test it on the fabric. The bottom of the chair is usually the best place for this. If there’s no damage, spray the particularly dirty areas with it and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.

Steam clean

Use a scrub brush with the squeegee attachments for more soiled areas. Apart from removing dirt effectively, steam cleaning can be a useful tool for eliminating germs in your home.

However, if the fabric is delicate, use a microfiber cloth and scrub the chair until the dirt is gone. If the stains persist, apply hydrogen peroxide for another 10 minutes and repeat the process.

How do you clean a fabric sofa?
